Watch with mother???? What happens if your mother is Norma Bates? Jane Horrocks did a brilliant version of this with Airy Fairy, Hobby horse and saveloy the dog.
A song no one knows.
Watched this as a 90s child, currently watching all the Watch With Mothers with my 10s kids for a show just before bedtime. These older shows and ones from my childhood like Old Bear and Rosie and Jim have such a magic of craftmanship.
Sal Rocks ❤❤❤❤
Takes me back 60 years , loved this programme, felt much safer then, Bill & Ben were my favourites.......Take me back..
I still love it! Watched to the end. Wholesome, gentle, calm and funny. THAT'S more like it! 😂❤
And to think that it was taken off air as because children would talk like these two flowerpot men 🤣!
I watched this as a kid and I'm 41
YEAH RIGHT I AM 70!! loved these guy's what happened to the world today...
Muffin The Mule was Criminalised years ago.....
That tiny black and white TV brought me so much joy.
They ended smoking Little Weed in 1968 ✌️😎☮️
Hatim..Robinhoods' brigade 😊 all buddies together for good ❤
Police: Kiran IPS Happy ji Joy JAG 😊 common world defence + police (security)😊
So much better than some of the c**p kids are subject to now.
When this country was a safe place to live in unlike today full of foreigners
I am 71 years old, and i have just blubbed my eyes out.
love the mash-up of old and recent footage. A Heeleyite as a youngster and living at Woodseats for the last 30 odd years, I recognised it all. Thanks for posting.
i’m in me early 20s, i’m from italy watching for the first time now. i feel soothed and smiling, like i was faced with something so pure that i never had back in my childhood. i went on a hunt to find at least an episode of this adorable show because i’ve seen a mention in the memoir of echo and the bunnymen’s guitarist will sergeant. i found out that in a life of immense struggle, these beautiful things were the light of your childhood, the motherly voice so sorely missed. and when you’re in a sort of depressive state exacerbated by an ever present loneliness, and seeing something like this for the first time, all that is eerie but also so playful and harmless touches you in ways unknown. thank you for sharing this. will x
My Grandma was on about this show, so i looked into it this where i am
Oblong😂
I'm a product of the early 50s, and the security I felt having a mother at home and yes a proper woman. For me it was age when I was drawn fo femininity because somehow women were lovely and nurturing I think. I loved this show although my absolutely favourite was Bill and Ben the flower pot men.. Some how the BBC seemed far more homely, reserved and so culturally English. Life was less complex, Sunday everything shut, half day Thursday, the bread and, milk Man and of course the coal man. I also remember cod liver oil at school, 1/3 pint of milk.and national health glasses. I hated the dentist and the horrible chair, I thought it was electric . I used to play in the coal bunker, I loved looking at steam trains and looking with fascination at how trolleybuses glided along over complex wires above the roads.
My mum bought me watch with Mother for Xmas when I was 5/6 an I loved it. I lent it to a mate an their mum an friend denied they had it when I asked for it back was annoying an sad really why would u refuse to give back a child's video x (I'm 36 now an still bitter lol)
the bassist is on another level, damn! i wish i could shake this mans hand
Just hearing the music made me want to cry. What lovely memories ❤
I had the vhs as a kid, used to love it
i just randomly remembered this show, watched it around 7-9
Ugh! I HATE that b!tch's voice! It feels like a knife going into your ear! Nasty voice!!! Holy crap
CHJH
Don't think i realised they were marionnettes first time around
How cynical I have become. Now I know where the seeds of doubt came
Memories
Love it ! 😂❤
I'm 30 and I watched this as a kid, in black and white as well as colour. I'm surprised at the lack of younger people in the comments section here.
A TRUE Legendary band!!!
Sal Solo, Style icon!
the woodentops now commonly known as the labour party
Sausage sounds a bit like Zippy from _Rainbow..._ 😏
Awesome
I was born in 61 and this was still playing ,along with Camberwick green ,things were so simple
And not one mention of be careful of the scissors as they might cut your head off. But don't stick the pin in yourself. Thats because we at the time of this had common sense
❤😊👍
The guys were really cool, and Sal was the most elegant man to ever sing on any stage. There was an exotic mix of styles in the way he moved and presented himself that made it exciting and mesmerising for the fans.
Peter Jackson and Giles Martin should work on this material. What a great rockumentary this would give. It has all the ingredients: outstanding live performances, spectacular music, the rise and regrettable fall of one of the best bands of the early 80s, the reunion more than 40 years later. After Get Back, why not Night People?
I must admit, I'd like to see one of the older episodes of Picture Book, presented by Patricia Driscoll. Sometimes they used to show a short film clip of fireworks set to music. (I think that may have been "Pink Champagne"). Anyone remember the same?
The break up of the Classix Nouveaux was a huge loss for the much musical scene of the 80s. They were amazingly innovative, original, and evolving as fast as hadn't been witnessed since the Beatles. Their first album had some vestiges of punk & ska, elements of goth rock, hints of what would be the new wave, bits of progressive rock, some futurist rock, and even a bit of doom metal. Their second album was already on a different plane, with baroque pop, full new wave, epic and lyrical exploration, experimenting with synthesisers plus drum and guitar effects that sounded like other instruments. Their third album was already full pop, and even if less experimental or original, it was still interesting, as they expanded melodic possibilities. I think they would have arrived at where they are now, with their recent new album, Battle Cry, by the 90s or early 2000s. Whether or not they would finally get their #1 either in the UK or in the US, it's a whole new discussion.
Which one featured Slowcoach the tortoise?
What a fabulous song! ❤️
Awesome song! Maybe they should've made a couple more albums like Night People and only then move on to other styles. That would have established them as a cult band, for sure.
I’m afraid
